“Bait”

Come get me

I’m waiting

for you.

When I look at you

I linger

tongue pressed

a bit too hard

against the back of my top teeth.

I’m as wild as I look.

Blue fire

dances in the shadows

of my eyes waiting

for you

to flash a light.

I’m shy

you see.

I don’t want to scare you

away. In the dark

its sharp and soft.

Sometimes

I feel too much and

I can’t keep it in my

cup.

Sometimes

I need

someone to make me

feel.

Intimidated or enamoured

listen to the

music

the wetness of a

sneer

the whisper of

flipping hair

the snapping of

heels

the gasp of

shifting fabric

the slither of

thinking fingers.

Let’s pretend

to be humans

pretending to be

animals.

I’ll be a

rabbit

and you can

bite me

in the belly.

I’ll be a

rope

caressing

and

constricting you.

I know your deepest secret.

I can feel it

in the

pause

when you look away

and see it in the

light

when you turn back.

I am a mind

first and foremost.

My hobby is thinking

every thought

imaginable

and choosing the ones

I prefer.

Maybe you’ll

surprise me

or maybe

I’ll never know.
